  1. I see player’s wedges with all sorts of shafts and they talk a lot about feel. But how does the shaft flex and weight affect the playability, especially with the CG moving forward on the SM8’s?

    Stay Awesome Bob!

When I’m in Florida I find at times I leave myself a chip from a tight lie on hard turf while other times I have a green side shot from thick Bermuda rough. Is it better to carry wedges with different degrees of loft and bounce to handle these different situations, or learn to adjust my technique to hit the shots?

Considering that most wedges are played for a wide variety of shots from full swing, to partial swings, to pitches, chips, pitchips and chipitches; and from all sorts of lies in rough, short grass and bunkers, I have to assume that the CG is not always designed in the dead center on the clubface. It seems the toe-side of any wedge gets action when opening the face or using the toe to chip from long greenside rough, so I'm wondering if the CG is slightly more to the toe side. I am aware that the CG on many different iron sets varies from model to model and brand to brand, with some being centered, while others are off-center slightly left or right, up or down, depending on the design. I understand the Vokey concept of positioning the CG higher up on the clubface for higher lofted models. It makes perfect sense.

My question is, where exactly is the CG position on the new SM8s from left to right on the club face?

I play with regular flex graphite shafts in my irons, should I have those in my wedges as well? I currently have the SM7's and love them.
  7. Mr. Vokey,

I play in all sorts of conditions in the Midwest, and it seems most of the fitters around here are indoor facilities. I have watched fittings online at the TItleist Institute and they seem very in depth outdoors hitting all sorts of shots with all different grinds. How would you recommend being fit at an indoor facility? Thanks!
  8. Bob, what is the number and loft of wedges do you recommend for beginning golfers??? Thanks.

How important is swing weight and shaft stiffness in selecting the proper wedges?

Bounce/grind = confusion. I have surrendered and simply get 8° bounce on all 3 wedges (50,54,58).... Am I really missing out ok anything by avoiding differences in bounce and grind?
  12. How important is the lie of a players wedges versus the bounce on the wedges to a proper fitting?
  13. Mr. Vokey,

I currently have a 52.08F SM6 and looking to upgrade to the same in an SM8. Other then new grooves, what will be the advantage to upgrading?

    Thanks,

Bob, First of all, thanks for making such great products. Your wedges have been helping me for years. My question: Do you recommend having a few extra wedges with the same loft but different bounce to switch in and out of the bag from course to course (sand and turf differences) or just stick with what matches the swing and the majority of conditions? Thanks!

How did you guys move the center of gravity forward in a wedge when the profile is so thin?
  16. Hi Bob,

    I got fitted for SM6's (50, 56, and 60)...do I need to get refitted for SM8's?

    Thanks!

Besides the putter, wedges are the most important clubs in any amateur's bag. What is the critical piece of info/data an amateur should use to help them calculate the right wedges for their game?

Thank you Bob and all your staff for making our games that much better with your drive for perfecting the Wedge.

  19. The new SM8 wedges look amazing! How do you value improvement in appearance of the SM8 compared to maintaining the wedge performance that we have come to expect from Vokey wedges?

    Bob,
For a player who has his T100's bent 2 degrees up, would are your thoughts on bending them up 1 degree or leaving them standard.
