I used my NP2 stainless for years. But had a lot of rounds where I wasn’t converting enough. Switched to the X 11.5 which has a slight toe hang, So far it’s been the right call. Had the weights changed to 15g which has helped with feel. The less face rotation the better.

I have always played blades. My go-to is the Newport 2 circle T, my backups are the Scotty Napa blade and the Wilson 8802. At 81, I'm sticking with blades.
  3. I’ve always been a blade person. I like the looks of mallets but a blade is simple and I feel more confident holding one.

I have one of each. I have a Special Select Squareback 2, that you could argue it's a mallet if you wanted and I have a X5.5. Just put the X5.5 in the bag last week to try out and rolled it pretty well. We keep it in there for a few more rounds.
  5. Great question, I had gamed a custom fit Edel EAS since it came out and loved the weight and feel of it. There was never a putt within 20 feet that I couldn't stand over and feel confident. But I always struggled with lag putts. About 5 weeks ago I went and played around with the 2024 Phantom lineup for an hour and half in a Golf Galaxy. I came home and ordered me the Phantom 5. I have played roughly 10 rounds with it since receiving it and so far I am loving it. I am a face balanced guy and it works just as well inside 10 feet as my Edel did. The big difference has been being able to keep the face square when lagging putts. I have noticed that I am a lot close to the hole from longer putts than I used to be. It's staying in the bag through the end of this season and it may have converted me to a mallet guy. Next step will be to pick up another and get it customized if treats me well. I tend to not change putters once I put one in the bag, so giving it a little customized love feels right to me!

    Cheers,

I have had multiple different Scotty’s, went from blade to the Delmar but now have the 7.5 and I think this is my favorite yet. I am debating trying a 5.5 at some point
  8. I like the feel of the Newport 2.5, but I seem to sink more putts with the Phantom 11 LD. I think the mallet just has that little extra forgiveness

Was always a blade guy until I got my Golo 5 mid mallet. Perfect balance between blade & mallet for me.
  10. Long time blade using a NP2 for as long as I can remember. I have been eyeing a phantom 5.5 and just looking for an excuse to pull the trigger.

I have needed longer sight lines and most blades have too much toe hang for me. I currently game a LH 2019 7.5 mallet. My local Cameron Studio only stocks RH models. While looking at the new 11/11.5 (RH), the 38 inch counterbalanced 11 seemed to minimize my short range pushes and pulls. At least with putting I can go both ways. Might be tempted to go back to the dark side - the 11 is only available RH.
  14. I really like the looks of a blade, but the mallet works better. I’m using a mid-mallet. Flowback 5.5.

I have always been blade every time I try a mallet I end up going back to blade.
