Most know that I took four months away from the game this summer. A little mental but mainly physical rehab. Did a lot ot physical therapy and pain management. Realized after that wonderful trip up to Pinehurst area and playing in the Dormie event, my body is just not cut out for three day events. We made our two trips to Europe (Spair, Portugal, Morocco) (Switzerland, France, Germany, and Netherlands) and had some wonderful experiences and made some new great friends. Found that our friends in Europe are in much better shape that we are. Upon return from the second trip on the 21st of September, visited with my pain management specialist, the following Monday, he said that I could return to hitting golf balls at the range that week. After finishing that week at the range, felt good and returned to playing the next week. What a surprise. Felt like I had not played in a year. Triple digit scores. Guess my muscles forgot how to work with my swing. After meeting with my pro and reprogramming those six inches between my ears things continued to improve. Have been playing three days a week and playing mixed 90's and even had a 90 score. Trying to remember that you have to crawl before you can walk. There still is some pain in my lower left back/hip area. There is another procedure (mild procedure, involving he nerve) but we are not there yet and they found spurs on L5. We met this week and they are pleased with my current status, in that I can do three days a week, but feel there are no three days in a row for me in the future. There is progress, but the mental aspect, I am working on it. Just do not worry about it. Nine years ago I shot my lowest round, a 69. With my current status that is no longer on the table. Will I be able to attend TTI events in the future, maybe, if they are a two day event. Just have to be real about my future playing golf, having fun and keeping within my ability. Staying in the fairways and hitting greens. Hakuna matata.
