I'm in the market for a new putter (looking at a Newport or Phantom X 11.5- I prefer blades, but I'm considering the mallet for the alignment)... I did measurements yesterday and realized that wrist to floor, I'm pretty short! I measured at 31.5 inches, which explains why my arms bow a little too much while I'm putting (rather than hanging naturally). I currently use a 34" putter, but am considering going to a 32" (which is what the measurements point to). Any thoughts or considerations?

@Kevin I would go with a 33in to keep the head weight and balance so you don't have to buy heavier weights and just grip down on it like it would be 32in jmo
  3. Being properly fit is the only real way to be fit however I have found most women are very comfortable with 33" and shorter men or men with long arms do not generally go below 33"....

Just my two cents...I would not go below 33" however you can buy a 33" and always cut it shorter if necessary!

    IMHO, Good Luck!

    Whatever feels right. I’m 5’11 and use a 32.5in Cameron & Crown 5mb. I love it.
  5. By the way, as a follow up,....did you have a chance to have a professional fit you?

5'11 and I had been using a Phantom X 5.5 the plays to 34". I got fit at a Scotty Showcase location, and he recommended a Newport 2 at 35". Been using it for the last week or so and it feels right, and I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but I have been making a ton of putts.

I'm 6'2" and game a 34" putter. 35" doesn't allow for my arms to hang propely. I woudl recommend actually getting fit. Jumping from a 34" to 32" woudl be a huge change in weights and posture. A new posture could change you entrie stroke. Be careful!

I know this may not seem like a huge significance in length, but I was gaming a Scotty Cameron Phantom x5.5 at 33.5" for about 3 years.. recently bought and went to a Scotty Cameron GOLO 6 at 33". A half an inch shorter and I noticed quite a difference right off the bat. I actually find my speed control is much better and I find the center of the putter face a lot more with just the half an inch shorter. I did not expect that with just a half an inch shorter..

Kevin - I was fit into the GoLo 6 35" but 1* weak and 1* upright. Those tweaks did wonders on how I rolled the ball. The mallet and longer aim line improved my aim significantly.

I would recommend getting fit. I think putter fittings are often over looked and it is arguably the most important club in the arsenal.

    Completely agree Dino!
