I have a 2017 (I think) Newport 2.7. Face balanced. I've tried a variety of other Scottys, but I always come back to this one. I cut a 35" putter down to 33" and added the appropriate weight to the head, with a Super Stroke Flatso grip. I'm toying with adding the 50 gram weight to the grip. There is a lot of information out there about adding weight to the grip in a counterbalance fashion on longer putters, where the counter weight in the grip is above your hands. Is there any advantage to adding that weight to a 33" putter where my hands are at the top/middle of the grip, basically putting the additional weight in my hands and not above them? I may gain some stability on short putts, maybe not. I may lose touch on longer putts, maybe not. I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.
