if you are having them reshaft the club i would recommend just having the head pulled at a local golf shop if they'll do it for you quickly. then you can bubble wrap it up and send it in a smaller box and save on the shipping cost to send it out.

if you are just sending it in for quick paint work and no reshafting involved then i would just stop by a local store, see if they have an extra box laying around, bubble wrap the head and use some newspaper to fill the box some to keep it from moving around a lot

That’s a good question. I am about to send my 2018 Newport 2 in for some custom work. No reshafting. I am just having my name engraved on it and the red dots filled in with baby blue and a couple other things. I also was lucky enough to come across what I believe to be a 1995-1997 classic Newport that I am going to send in to get restored. My friends father didn’t have a clue what he had sitting in his garage...

I definitely will. Been busy with the holidays but more than likely sending it out right after New Years along with me Newport 2 to get some paint fill.

I have done this numerous times and this is how I do it.

IF you are doing a refurb then you can cut the shaft (I use a pipe cutter but hacksaw would also suffice) and just send in the head. Be sure to leave at least a few inches of shaft for the custom shop to remove the shaft residual. Then pack the head in a small box with bubble wrap.

IF you are doing just some costmetic adjustments and do not want to send in a putter in whole. You can use a golf club box, just stop by golf galaxy or dicks etc.. and ask for one. Then use bubble wrap around the head and around the grip to prevent movement during transit as well as protect club. The custom shop will send your putter back in a gold box many times, save this box since you can reuse it for future use!

Also, I send it via FEDEX three day air regardless since I want exact tracking to ensure if anything goes wrong in transit I am covered. You can also insure the package for whatever the putter is valued at however I have always just done the standard $100 at no extra cost however that is your call. After 75+ custom shop packages sent I am yet to have a problem... knock on wood.
