It's always fun to look at older model clubs especially when they possess sentimental value. Here is a little information about your grandfather's putter.

STDM5P is actually the model information and not the serial number. It stands for:

STD - Standard head style
M - Medium Lie (or standard lie)
5 - 35" long
P - Paddle grip

This model putter was manufactured between 1985 and 1995.

The John Reuter Company began producing the Bulls Eye Putter in the mid 1940's. Acushnet acquired Reuter in 1962. They remained, essentially, in their original, sand-cast form up through the early 80's.
Mine says John Reuter, Acushnet, 0-set M-5, but not the Bulls Eye script, unless it has worn off. It's a magnificent putter, very accurate and forgiving. Although I've seen the later Scotty Cameron rework of the Bulls Eye go for $500 plus, mine is a $1 rescue from the Goodwill. Best dollar I ever spent.
