2012 vs 2014 Scotty Cameron Selects. Which do you like and why? I recently sold a 2012 Black Mist Newport 2 and regret it. If I try another just curious which model your playing? Is it simply finish or other changes?

    Hey Chris,

I have the 2014 Newport 2 and I love it. It is very smooth and has great feel to it. One of my friends has the 2012 model and they look identical, besides the finish of course.

  3. I find that my interest/preference for particular putters varies and changes year to year.  For instance, while I may prefer the 2014 Newport today the 2012 model I may like at others...it just depends! Like many others on this site, I am fortunate to have multiple SC Putters and I keep them because I never know when one will fit my eye at any given time!

    Just my two cents....

I have a 2014 Newport.  I tried the 2012 as well since they had it still in the store at the time.  I opted for the 2014 for durability of the finish.  The black mist seemed to get marked up a little easier.  I figured dropping that kind of coin for a putter, I didn't want the finish to look worn after a few months, although I liked the color better.

I preferred the look of the black pistolini grip from the 2012, so I went to the Scotty website and ordered one, then had it regripped in black.

Hey, i got the 2014 select 2 last year and it was one of my best decisions I've ever made. my putting is much better with it, if you get it you won't be disappointed. promise

There's the finish and the grip, but I think the biggest difference is the deep milling.  It's got a different sound and softer feel than the traditional milling found on the 2012.  They're both awesome putters, but it's really your preference.  You can't go wrong either way.
