I started playing golf with my dad at age 8. Now age 62, I have had most everything happen on the course except for a Hole-in-One. Over those 54 years I have had balls bounce off the flagstick, hop over the hole, hit the edge of the hole and bounce out, stop on the lip, and race right by the hole with only a casual look in - but never come to rest in the hole. But all those years of discouragement came to end in 2023. I had the good fortune to make a trip to Bandon Dunes. I played for 5 days, and it was an amazing time. On the final day, after the final round, I decided to play Bandon Preserve (Bandon Dunes unbelievable stunning 13 hole Par 3 course) before I had to head home. On the 10th hole, from 123 yards I made my one, and only (so far) Hole-in-One, and I never got to see it go in! The holes there are very elevated (up and down) and beautifully bunkered and mounded. When my group and I walked up to the green there was one ball "missing". I of course looked in front of the green, behind the green, left of the green, but not in the hole - why would I? One of my playing partners found my ball - in the hole. On my 100th hole of a 103 hole trip - I made that long desired Hole-in-One. I hope I get to play golf long enough to make another hole-in-one, and hopefully get to see it go in as a bonus!
