September 14, 2023. 192 yards, Bear Mountain Valley course, 10th hole, Grizzly Tees. Club: 2i hybrid, Titleist, 18 degrees. Ball: Pro V1.
Description: A long uphill par three. The green is wide, but pretty shallow front to back. Pin was in the middle of the green, centred right to left and middle depth. My intent was A) to get the ball to the hole and B) hit it out to the right a bit and draw it back towards the pin. Hit the shot super solid, but it was still drawing in the air when it got to the pin line - so it ended up being a little long and left of the flag. My shoulder slumped as I thought it was "a miss". Ball landed on the slope behind and left of the flag...one of the guys I was playing with said it was on the lower level, so I was thinking about how I would need to putt it close just to make my par...the ball landed soft, then released and rolled down slowly from where it landed, then rolled down a bit further through the fringe and then really started rolling hard to the right once it got onto the putting surface...and then just disappeared when it got to the pin...
The two guys I was playing with both screamed "it went in!" and "hole in one!!" and then they absolutely mobbed me screaming and hugging me and jumping up and down...I was shocked (as I thought it was on 'the lower level'). Then when I finally shook them off there were many high fives coming at me...so I said "Let's get up there and see if it actually went in". Took a quick picture on the tee box. Finally, confirmed it was truly in the cup once we made it up to the green.
Bought shots of Crown Royal for my group and got a buncha high fives from the ladies piloting the beverage cart on the next hole. *Proceeded to make a birdie on the following (11th) hole.
That was my second hole in one. The other was at La Quinta, Dunes Course, 6th hole, Palm Springs, California. (Also a Pro V1.)
Today while going through my golf stuff, I found the Titleist "Hole In One" Bag Tag from my first ace. There's something about golfing beside the Pacific... I may have to move to the West Coast. (Devil's Pulpit Golf Association + West Coast Aces Association: DPGA/WCAA).
Happy New Year Titleist...couldn't have done it without ya!
