On 8-28-23 I went to Craigwood golf course in lake placid Ny, one of my home courses. I typically play alone as my friends work during the day and I work nights. I was having a decent round and came upon a couple and their two grandchildren on hole 15. They politely told me I could pass, but then I said “do you mind if I join you for the last few holes? It’s been a bit of a lonely day lol.” They said yes and I proceeded to play with them and even gave some tips to the two children learning.
We got to hole 17, a 145 yard par 3. I grabbed my 7 iron (I know it seems like a lot of club, but it was cold, and I have an easy swing. I hit the ball and lost sight of it in the air. The gentleman I was with on the tee box watched as it bounced from the fluffy rough and kicked left to run onto the green and into the cup! He started to shout and told me it went in. I of course didn’t believe it. I play 90-110 rounds a summer and have come close to a hole in one but it never went in. We playfully argued as we walked up to the green. I even looked in the fluffy rough to try and prove him wrong. He walked over to the cup and smiled and pointed and said “Jason, it went in.” I walked up and looked and then looked at him just utterly speechless. I picked the ball out (a brand new Titleist pro v1x) and took pictures with the couple. The best part was the two kids in the cart realizing what I did and they began to cheer
