For many years, I've never concerned myself with setting the wrists going back. Over the years, some have advocated an early wrist set and other, just let it happen. It seems to me, if your arms tend to keep running after the shoulders have stopped, an early wrist set might be a good idea. Do you all have a different take? Any comments are welcome.

  2. I Think an early Wrist set is a good idea for many golfers providing it doesn’t create tension through the forearm and shoulders which will reduce the bodies Ability to transition into the downswing . Which can create an early casting action; which opens a whole new can of worms!

I prefer an early wrist set myself. I find that it's easier to hit 3/4 shots and/or use a clock system for the back swing by getting the wrists set early. Also I see a lot of people who don't set the wrists early end up taking the club back way under the plane and never get it set the same way or in the same place every time. The same people struggle to get their left arm straight as well consequently. An early wrist hinge creates the lever early to push with the heal pad of the left hand which raises the clubhead to the correct plane/path while also straightening the left arm. You can get to the correct spot either way but I find most people get there more easily with an early wrist hinge.
