Demo clubs in golf simulators

  1. I have been building my golf simulator business for a couple of years now, and it is growing at a really promising rate. Has anyone else on here with a golf simulator business established a relationship with Titleist to provide demo clubs for customers to try during their sessions? I feel this could be a good sales tactic, as I'm pretty sure every player that comes in would give them a try out of curiosity if nothing else. I don't necessarily want to move into golf equipment retail, but it could be a good USP for the business having clubs try, and also generate some sales for Titleist. Just interested to see if anyone has done it? how they went about it? and if it was successful?

Reach out to the local rep, to be honest, not all reps are the same. Some may be willing to help, others not so much. Nothing against the TT guys, depending where you are, startups are challenging. You'll have to open an account, fund a credit line, and purchase the start-up equipment. Possibly have a TT fitter come to your shop for demo days. Never hurts to reach out, ask around.

Titleist is one of the more difficult accounts to land. They favor green grass, large retail and fitting accounts. Demo clubs are provided to fitters or accounts with access to qualified fitters. Just handing people random clubs isn't the best method for selling, and likely isn't appealing to a major club company. You might reach out to a smaller / independent club company that would be looking for eyeballs and to get their clubs in the hands of people.

Agree. Titleist doesn’t attend golf shows or have demo days. Tire kickers rarely purchase. As well as if the demo doesn’t fit the user, then they won’t have Titleist at a later fitting. There’s a reason Titleist offers a refundable fitting with a pro with a purchase. A demo with multiple people per hour will not show what the equipment can do.

You rarely even see Titleist rental clubs at golf courses anymore. They just do not feel that off-the-rack sets follow their company philosophy. I would say things are pretty solid for the company in their current strategies.
