I play 912 AP1 clubs with S300 shafts, I am now 69 with a 10 hcp and have been told I should think about changing my shafts because my swing speed is getting slower as I get older. The conversation ended with a suggestion that graphite shafts might be a solution. I would be greatful to hear from anyone who has experienced changing their shafts.

I too have grown older and I did switch to a reg. flex KBS tour and I did notice improement
  3. I currently use the regular flex graphite shafts in my 714 AP1 5-PW. They were recommended to alleviate stress caused by golfer's elbow. I really enjoy hitting them

Asked my fitter and he said that graphite would not help me that much. Hope the person who gave your this advice was a professional or a certified fitter. Will be 70 early September. Am playing 716AP1s, XP105 S300 shafts 5-W, same shafts in SM6 51.09*, 56.14* wedges. Still playing Stiff in 915D2 11*, 913F 14.25*, 915h 17.25*, 816h1 21. Also 10.8 handicap. Am hitting clubs best ever. New irons are long and accurate. Went from a XP95 to a XP105 shaft. My swing speed is 93mph, ball speed 2000-2500.

I am 69, a 11 handicap and went to a certified fitter that was listed by Golf Digest magazine as one of three top fitters in my state. The first thing my fitter did was have me swing a club which I think was a 7 iron that had some kind of attachment on it that fed info to the fitters computer. Bottom line was that I went from a stiff steel shaft to a graphite Project X 4.5 shaft which is a senior or A shaft. I also went from a 2 degree upright to a 3 degree. The fitter did not push any certain brand but had me try different manufactures. Did not get Titleist but another brand that gave me about a half a club more distance with the same ball dispersion that I had with my stiff steel shafts. The graphite shaft turned the time clock back several years. See a certified fitter because numbers do not lie.

I am 73 years old and in May I purchased the 716 MB irons, 6-pw and the 716 T-MB 3-5 irons all with the Kuro Kage graphite "A" flex shafts. A major improvement in distance - 10 yards with the MB and 15+ yards with the T-MB. I was set on steel shafts, but, my fitter convinced me graphite was the way to go now and for the future. My previous set of 710 MB's had the Nippon NS Pro 970, regular shafts. You may want to go to a fitter and see if graphite works for you. All Titleist all the time!
