PovV dimple change. Im curious as to why Titleist has gone away from the 392,332 dimpel paterens and numbers. now its what 350 something and 328. I curious as to what the benefits of these paterns have developed over the old patern. I've really come to love the old paterns and even thow im sure i'll change to the new line im just reluctent to the change. But i do trust titleist there is a good reason there the number one ball manufacuter. So that being said im sure they have good reason just wondering if anyone has any insight.

it has to do with spin control off your clubs. both balls still have the soft feel you want around the green. the prov has the 352 dimple pattern which will provide you with more spin into the greens, but it also means more spin off your longer irons and woods. what this means is, if you slice or draw the ball it will add spin and make it go further offline. with the 328 pro vx you get less spin off the irons and woods which in turn means a straighter ball flight but sacrafice some spin off the short irons.

    Hi John,

We're always looking to deliver the best performing products and focused on continuously improving our golf balls to help golfers shoot lower scores. The important thing to remember is that there is no single element of golf ball design or construction that determines the performance characteristics. Our team always looks at all elements of design when developing a golf ball.

As for your question on the dimple design change, the new spherically tiled tetrahedral dimple design featured on both the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x, one of the elements of this design is that it allows us to deliver three axes of symmetry on both golf balls and contributes to the most consistent flight we’ve ever delivered.

The Pro V1 features a spherically tiled 352 tetrahedral dimple design which results in a penetrating and more consistent flight.

The Pro V1x features a spherically tiled 328 tetrahedral design. This new dimple pattern delivers higher trajectory and a peak that is further down range. The result is increased carry distances for most players.
