I went on a ball plant tour last year where they said the slightest defect can cause the ball flight to change. I'm no pro by any means but I bought a dozen of the 2020 avx balls to try and I was marking them and found this on several of the golf balls in the box. Looks like a gate tab from the urethane fill point.

I dont believe that would have much of an impact on your ball. Im no scientist though.

Just checked both white and yellow 2020 AVX balls I have. No similar marking, just faint initials of 7L on both in adjacent dimples.

Also not a scientist, but the Pro-V's and I thought the AVX were all cast urethane (injected into the mold prior to the ball center insertion), so there would not be an injection nub like that.

The Tour Speed is injection molded so that potential might exist with those balls.

Might be a paint spray error that we'd expect to be picked up? Contact Titleist??

I was just so surprised that how predominate it is. True they are not injected per say but they metered shots and something has to shut off material. Im wondering if wasn't in the deburring media long enough.

I bet if you told Titleist they would replace them.

I checked on my shelf and pulled at random a sleeve of Prov1s. Checked all three balls and they all have a small specks like that but do not feel that it affect the flight of the golf ball. Had to look hard to find them.
Mine also had very small initials which indicates the mold they came from. No need to ask for replacements. Did you use an Oil based sharpie to mark your ball?

I not sure if the sharpie is oil based or not. I bought at a box store.

I've been playing Pro V1'S for a long time now and have never seen a mark like that on one.
  9. Yes, that looks like a defect.
