Yep, the ball doesn't know how old you are. Data has proven that the ProV1 or ProV1x can be beneficial to anyone with any swing speed. I certainly understand why a golfer who looses a lot of balls might shy away from the top-of-the-line balls due to price but if your 9 year old can keep them in play, by all means, play the best. The ball fits the player. Like Dale said it doesn't know his age. If it is a ball he scores better with (or gives him a better opportunity to score better) then he should play it. If it doesn't hold the type of ball flight, line & feel to score better then he probably shouldn't play it.

My 7-year-old played the Pro V1s throughout his summer/fall tours and they were great for him around the greens. They were shorter for him off the tee than the Velocities he used in the spring (as expected), but the Velocities would fly through the greens on his approach shots. I’m wondering if the Tour Softs might be a happy/medium for him. Thinking the lower compression might give him a little more distance, but he’s yet to hit them. If checked all the reviews, but have any of you hit them? I trust real golfers over YouTube reviewers.

Try ProV1x if he wants more spin around the greens, especially since Titleist is having special pricing for Christmas. I also buy in Mid-April when Titleist has get 4 dz for the price of 3 dz. Your son should get more spin off all clubs, and a higher flight, which most of us need, as well as greenside spin with the V1x.

What advice the Titleist rep give you when you saw him at Pinehurst? Most of the time, the advice we give is to get a few sleeves of different balls and see which works best......you already have the Pro1 and the Prov1x...I would have him try a sleeve of the AVX and the TourSoft and see which of those four perform best with his swing. Best of luck........like Dale says, golf balls know no age.......go to the top of this page and click on balls and then on each type of ball and read up on each of their performance characteristics.....and do a comparison...... cheers

Second what Chuck Z says with one difference. Try the balls first to see how they perform. Afterward, if you aren't sure, then go read the information. This way, you won't have preconceived performance expectations and will be more objective in your observations! If there isn't a performance difference between a premium ball and a next tier ball, why pay more?

Any Junior player that wants a performance ball look to the ProV1 and ProV1x.
