  1. Hey,

Has anyone noticed a dip in durability from the new 2015 model ProV?

I used a proV1x on the weekend and smashed a 6 iron flush. get to the ball and there is a huge split in it. I am used to normal wedge marks etc but this seemed a little odd. And the new formula seems to be to be less durable.

Maybe it's as a consequence of thinner cover or something. Just thought I would ask.

Stuart, That is odd. I'd say a fluke first, as I've never heard of this happening. As in anything that's mass produced, things do happen!

Thanks for the information.  I'm still playing out the 2013 models I have left.  I was sent the test balls and didn't see a difference in durability.

More than anything, I suspect it's just one bad ball.  Sounds like a balata almost.  I don't think I've had a Pro V1x split on me ever.

  4. I will say I have just finished my second sleeve of the new balls. I only had a problem with one ball. so probably an outlier. but just thought I'd ask the question.

still though, my scores are hugely better with prov's compared to other balls.

    Keith!

Take a day off from the weight room man!  :-)  All kidding aside, that does sound strange and was probably a bad ball.

Hey Stu....don't hit the ball so hard next time!  : - )

Seriously, I've been playing both the new Pro V1 and V1x for the past two months and have not had the problem that you are describing.  The only problem that I have had is with the usual "road rash" arising from shots that hit or skip along the asphalt cart path!

It sounds like perhaps you have a defective ball...I hope you saved it and send it back to Titleist ... give them a chance to figure out what happened so that if it is something problematic with their manufacturing or design problem they can remedy it  or if it is a bad ball that evaded quality control then revisit their procedures.

Either way, I have found over the years that Titleist is one of the very best companies in terms of standing behind their products and producing great balls and equipment.   Now if only they made golf balls that float, I would be much better off! :-)

Depending on the damage, you might want to send that in to Acushnet

    https://www.titleist.com/customer-service/faqs/18/Golf%20Balls.aspx

"Only in cases of manufacturing/production defects or cracked golf balls (i.e. cut through to core) will we review the Pro V1, Pro V1x, and NXT Tour models for potential replacement. If you live in the United States and feel your golf ball(s) meet this description, we ask that you please return the golf ball(s), along with a note describing the problem (including where you purchased) to the address referenced above.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your continued support of Titleist...the #1 Ball in Golf."

If you still have the ball that was damaged after you hit it, make sure to send it back to Accushnet for R&D to examine.  I had a similar incident at the course I work at a few years ago, and luckily our Titleist rep was on site, and took the ball and sent it back for closer examination.  Never heard if anything was changed, but it was neat to see the rep so interested and asking questions about how it was damaged.  Showed the excellent customer service we have all come to know from the Accushent family of companies.

I have never had an issue with the durability of a Pro V1 or Pro V1X in all the years playing this ball.  I can expect different things to happen to the ball depending on the type of player you are. I, myself is a high spin player with my wedges and hit down very aggressively thus "chewing up" the cover is very likely.  Things do happen of which are odd.

Today, I will be playing my first official round of the year in Massachusetts and will be using the New 2015 Pro V1. I will look to provide any insight or results of ball durability.

Yes, I did it to the ball with a driver.  I was going to send it in.  Never has this happened before.  It did happen, so what's next.  It's the new Titleist woods for me.  I love them and the hybrids.
