  1. Hello!

I was given a box (dozen) of Titleist balls that were purchased new back in the sixties or seventies, all twelve are  there and never played.

Does anyone know anything about these balls? Were these the "DT Solo" of the day or the Prod V1 of the day?

    Thanks

    Jude,

These were not the PRO-V of the day.  Back then, the PRO-V of the day was a wound ball, probably with a liquid core and a balata cover.  These would be more like the DT SOLO product line that is out now.  The big selling point for these balls was the hard to cut cover (balata balls were pretty easy).

    Agree with Barry,

The selling point to the early DTs was they wouldn't cut. By cut I mean they literally would not cut if you happened to thin a shot. Balata balls had wonderful playing characteristics but if not hit properly, a cut or lopsided ball would be the result. But boy would they spin!!

Sorry Barry.....I obviously didn't read your post in its entirety before my response. Not my intent to mirror your thoughts almost to the word.
