Do these balls truly go about the same distance and is it a rare case where somen hits the pro v1x 15 or more yards longer than the Pro v1

Depends on the golfer's swing. Too much loft may be compensated better by the ProV 1x yielding more distance. ...Reverse is possible. Titleist claims less than 5 yards difference on average. So if you're not average....

To me the difference between these two is the spin I get off the irons. Distance really isn't much different at all off the tee. The Pro V1x is my ball of choice because I tend to spin the ball with my irons and wedges. Around the green the Pro V1 spins a little too much for my game. Also, on those days when I'm not hitting my tee ball very well, I prefer the ProV1x then too as the ProV1 will move more off line on miss hits due to its spin.
