I'm a very traditional golfer and have been playing Titleist equipment exclusively for the past 15 years.   I'm now getting into my mid 40's and wondering if the Pro V1 is the best ball for me vs. the Pro V1 X.

Club head speed on the driver is approximately 100 mph.   Use the 910 D3 - 8.5 loft (with the angle turned down and additional degree lower).   I have a tendency to hit the ball high ... and my average carry is between 220 and 240 with a slide draw.  Sure could use some extra distance ... but have never really tried to see if the Pro V1 X would help ... so thought  I would ask.

And finally, I definitely have a strong short game.   I would not be interested in giving up any feel ... so are they both comparable?

Looks like there is some good advice from a similar question a few days ago.   But I will add, I am fairly consistent in working the ball in both directions, have a +0.2 index, and not really concerned with Spin (albeit, I love having it around the greens).

My biggest challenge is hitting mid irons to hybrids in on the longer par 4's ... and would really welcome some additional distance if the ProV1X is longer?   And ... I should add that I am looking for advice from someone who has played long term with both.

For me I find the Pro V1x to be a hair straighter and fly a bit lower than the Pro V1.  The Pro V1 will spin a bit  more and has a softer feel.

I'd say for short game feel though the V1 offers the most.

    Do some experimenting!

The Pro V1x might be the better ball for you especially with a club head speed of 100 mph with the driver. You should gain distance off the tee. You may spin the ball a little less into the green but, you will not lose any control around the greens. They are very similar in that aspect. The height on your shots should come down a little also.

  5. I switched from prov1 to x this summer and have gained many advantages you are describing...only way though to determine it for your game is buy a sleeve of balls and try them out!
