  1. hi...im a scratch player who has used Titleist golf balls since I was 20 yrs old. the "old" ProV1X really suited my game and the "new" one seems to have lost something in distance. i doint know if its more spin or what but my understanding is that its spins even less. I thought it was developed of offset the groove issue on tour but i may be wrong. it seems to act more like the old ProV1 to me. i would love to get feedback about this as i seem to be lost trying to find the right ball again....thanks in advance

"With the new Pro V1x, we have the same dual core construction as the previous generation that delivers the same spin and feel characteristics Pro V1x players have come to expect. Pro V1x has entirely new aerodynamic package. We’ve implemented a new spherically tiled 328 tetrahedral design. This new dimple pattern delivers higher trajectory and a peak that is further down range. The result is increased carry distances for most players.  Similar to the new Pro V1, the new dimple design is also creating a more consistent ball flight. Throughout the testing process, players have reported outstanding performance from both golf balls in windy conditions"

If you can get on a launch monitor and check your launch and spin, you will be able to best diagnose what is happening. The Titleist golf ball fitting teams all set up a launch monitor each day and can help you determine the best ball for your game.

According to what they say, new spins more than old.

According to my play yesterday, the new stops on the green, from full swing approaches, the same as the old ProV1(no X), the old PV1x didn't stop like that. Even an approach from 195y using 21*h stopped inside 2ft.

So I'd say they spin more.

As a player that tested the original ProV1 and ProV1x, I can say that the biggest difference between the "old" and "new" ProV1x seems to be durability. I find that my distances off all the clubs, Driver thru wedges, is the same as it has always been. I play the ProV1x as it spins less then the ProV1 and I found that I can still control the ball to and around the green. the reduced spin of the ProV1x is more predictable for my game.

If you look at pure statistics you will find that during testing the distance difference between the ProV1 and the ProV1x was less than 3-5 yards off the driver. this is done with a swing machine that makes exactly the same contact each and every time. Given this data, I don't think that the ball is where the distance is going. I would look at the contact you are currently making. It doesn't take much of an off center hit to lose a significant amount of distance.

As a reference, I have been a Professional for over 20 years.
