The second leg of the FedExCup Playoffs is underway in Boston, where 97 players are hoping to go low at the Deutsche Bank Championship and move one step closer to the season-ending TOUR Championship.
TPC Boston in suburban Norton, MA plays host this week, testing players with a variety of challenging, tree-lined holes. One player who recently unlocked the secrets to success on the par-71, 7,214-yard layout is Titleist golf ball loyalist Rickie Fowler (Pro V1), who edged fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Henrik Stenson (Pro V1) by a single shot at the 2015 Deutsche Bank.
"It’s a golf course I like,” Fowler said at the tournament’s media day. “I just never really understood how the guys played so well on it, then finally figured it out a little bit last year. I’m definitely looking forward to getting back here. It’s always a fun crowd to play in front of. It’ll be nice being back as the defending champion.”
The Labor Day finish at the Deutsche Bank has grown to become a New England tradition in the short span since the inaugural event in 2003 (it became a FedExCup playoff stop in 2007).
The top 70 players in FedExCup point standings after the final round on Monday will advance to the BMW Championship in Chicago.
With playoff hopes on the line, we're sure to some exciting golf action as we savor the last few days of summer. Good luck to all of #TeamTitleist this Labor Day weekend!
