For the 72nd consecutive year, Titleist is the #1 ball at the U.S. Open, the longest running equipment success story in golf. In the field of 144 at Winged Foot, 103 players (72%) teed up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than six times the nearest competitor with 17. Titleist has been the top choice at every U.S. open since 1949 when the championship was held at Medinah CC.

Not only was Titleist the overwhelming field favorite in golf balls this past week, but more contestants are trusting Titleist drivers (44/31%), hybrids (20/39%), utility irons (25/40%), irons (38/26%) and wedges (166/41%) at the second major championship of the year.

#1 DRIVER - CONVERSION TO TSi CONTINUES

Titleist began the seeding and validation process of its new TSi2 and TSi3 drivers at the Safeway Open in Napa the other week, and it continued in earnest at Winged Foot. Titleist not only won the driver count for the second consecutive week, but the new TSi3 was the most played model among all drivers in the field with 22. In fact, a total of 28 TSi models were in play, that’s nearly a 64% conversion rate just two weeks into the new season.

EUROPEAN

Garrick Higgo (Pro V1), making only his seventh career start, captured his maiden European Tour title with a one-shot win at the Portugal Open. The 21-year old lefty closed with a 7-under-par 65 en route to a 19-under 269 victory total. Fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador George Coetzee (Pro V1x), who had won two consecutive weeks, finished in a tie for 3rd with Andrew Wilson (Pro V1x), four shots back.

In addition to topping the golf ball count with 102 players (81%), Titleist was also the overwhelming field favorite in drivers  (49/39%), with 20 more than the nearest competitor (29).

LPGA

Georgia Hall (Pro V1x) parred the second hole of a sudden death playoff to win the Cambia Portland Classic for her first LPGA Tour victory in the United States. The 24-year-old Englishwoman, who won the 2018 Women’s British Open champion, closed with a 4-under 68 to reach the playoff at 12-under 204.

Moriya Jutanugarn (Pro V1x) and Yealimi Noh (Pro V1x) finished a stroke out of the playoff. Titleist was the overwhelming top choice in golf balls with 115 players, or 82 percent of the field, more than 16 times the nearest competitor.

CHAMPIONS

A Pro V1x loyalist became the third player to win his first two PGA TOUR Champions starts, carding a birdie on the first hole of a playoff at the PURE Insurance Championship. He closed with a 5-under 67 to reach the extra session at 12-under 204, and converted his winning birdie putt after hitting a 90-yard wedge to 3 feet. The 50-year-old won The Ally Championship last month in his debut.

In addition to playing the Pro V1x, he relies on a TS3 driver, TS2 fairways and Vokey Design wedges.
