Na Walks Away With a Victory at the Sony Open

 Kevin Na (Pro V1x)

PGA TOUR | SONY OPEN IN HAWAII

Kevin Na (Pro V1x) got up and down for birdie from behind the green at Waialae Country Club’s par-5 18th to complete his back-nine rally and win by one shot.

  • Three shots back on the 13th tee, Na birdied four of his final six holes to finish off a final-round 5-under 65 that earned him his fifth PGA TOUR victory and moved him to No. 23 in the World Ranking.
  • Na led a top-3 sweep for Titleist golf ball players, with Chris Kirk (NEW Pro V1x) and Joaquin Niemann (Pro V1x) tying for second.
  • It was Niemann’s second T-2 finish in two weeks, as he played the Aloha Swing in a cumulative 45 under par.

Titleist Success on TOUR

With Na’s victory, Titleist golf ball players have won 10 of the first 14 events to start the 2020-2021 season. Of the 144 players in the field, 108 trusted a Pro V1 or Pro V1x for their success, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 15.

KIRK SECURES STATUS WITH NEW PRO V1x

 Chris Kirk (Pro V1x)

Chris Kirk entered the week needing a two-way tie for third or better to secure full status (under his Major Medical Extension) for the rest of the 2020-21 season.

  • He finished T-2 following a spectacular up and down for birdie on the 72nd hole. Shortsided from 25 yards out in the right rough, Kirk pitched his NEW Pro V1x to 17 inches on 18 and tapped in to secure his card.
  • Kirk put 2021 Pro V1x in play at his first opportunity at the Houston Open, after testing the new model during some practice time at home.
  • “Chris generally leans towards something a little softer with some spin. He’s not an overly high launch guys so he’s always looking to keep some spin and flight.” said Fordie Pitts, Titleist’s Golf Ball R&D Consultant on the PGA Tour. “The new Pro V1x ball fits him well for that reason.”

TSi MOMENTUM CONTINUES AT SONY

Titleist was the most played driver at the Sony Open with 43 of the 47 Titleist drivers in play being new TSi2, TSi3 and TSi4 models. Of those playing a TSi driver, a total of 14 did so without an agreement.

HENLEY ADDS NEW TSi4 TO BAG

 Russell Henley (TSi4)

Russell Henley (T-11) put a NEW TSi4 10-degree driver (KBS TD 80 shaft, A•1 setting) in play after testing with the new model during the offseason.

“Russell was seeing more speed off the face but was really blown away on TSi4’s forgiveness versus what he had been playing in the prior generation TS4,” said Titleist Director of Player Promotion J.J. Van Wezenbeeck.
